Getting Britain Moving

Backed by

The ability to move home is fundamental to how the housing market functions. Yet the systems and sectors that underpin mobility are often overlooked in policy design.

The removals sector sits at the intersection of housing delivery, labour mobility and local economic activity. As pressures increase across each of these areas, ensuring that people and businesses can move efficiently becomes an increasingly important part of the wider growth agenda.

This campaign focuses on how policy can better support the practical realities of moving – from reducing friction in housing transactions to improving the operating environment for the businesses that enable mobility across the UK.

We are working with industry, policymakers and practitioners to explore how barriers to movement can be addressed in a way that supports both economic activity and household mobility. The aim is to translate operational challenges into clear, deliverable policy recommendations that government can engage with directly.

At its core, the campaign reflects a broader principle: that economic growth depends not just on building homes, but on enabling people to access and move between them efficiently.

Getting Britain Moving: Unlocking Growth in the Removals Sector

Delivered in partnership with the British Association of Removers, this report explores the structural and regulatory barriers facing the UK removals sector – a vital but often overlooked part of the housing and logistics ecosystem. The discussion focuses on how policy, planning and infrastructure can better support mobility across the housing market, reduce friction in relocation, and enable the sector to operate more efficiently in a changing economic environment.
